When we launched Start, we created a short film to explain the reasons behind the project and our ambitions for the future.
If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a look here. We hope you like it!

I came to the site via an ad in a local paper for the Garden Party and commend the content so far on eat/travel/living/save energy. But I find the video messaging unclear…I get that the messages in the first part are deliberately confusing with messages coming from different angles/in different fonts/facts/statistics…but the second half doesn’t get much better. Or am I missing something? I think you missed an opportunity to move to a single screen, which would have underlined your final message – ‘start with something simple’ and could also be seen as a move to ‘outside the box’.

Underwhelming, all it said was start with something simple – is that it, I have changed my lightbulbs, recycle, freecycle, bus instead of car, sweep instead of hoover, buy local,
and in season, shop ethically, get electric from an eco / company, forgo holidays abroad
and have solar, I was hoping to be inspired further. Lots of us do care about our children and grandchildrens future and act accordingly

Gael, you’re probably in the minority but also one of those people that can show others how easy it is to do some, or even one, of the things you mentioned.

Start with something simple is a very good message. At school we designated some tiny waste bins as ‘landfill only’. By doing this simple thing we achieved a big difference. If councils did this simple thing we would have tiny landfill bins outside our houses which would make an even greater difference across the UK.

I thank the Prince of Whales for his leadership with the Amazon Rainforest and all the forests of the planet. Amazonia, is one of the world’s greatest natural resources. Because its vegetation continuously recycles carbon dioxide into oxygen, it has been described as the “Lungs of our Planet”. About 20% of earth’s OXYGEN is produced by the Amazon rainforest. As a concerned citizen of the world my pledge is to SAVE THE AMAZON RAINFOREST. I have created a group in Facebook “The Amazon Rainforest” which I would like to share with you and warmly invite you to join. Please help us to create awareness of this majestic ecosystem!

There’s no doubt that Prince Charles has dome much for the cause. I learned recently from a Romanian how much he’s admired for his efforts there. What I’d question is why so much goes into the rhetoric of sustainability with so little action.
Locally here in the less affluent part of Gloucestershire we’re engaged in efforts to leverage action for a cycle route to the nearest town and mainline rail services, with the point that it serves our health and our safety and encourages eco visitors.
As I contemplate some of the formidable obstacles to funding I note the vast number of partners supporting this website to just talk about it.
We’d much rather see support for those trying to turn rhetoric into reality.
